Mark Carter in the studio with Nigel and John

On Tuesday morning 7th June John and Nigel appeared live on Mark Carter's show on Souther Counties Radio from their Guildford studio.

They had a very exciting and enjoyable time as Mark invited them to talk about their proposal to set up Topic of Cancer.  He started off with how and where they met, which was easy as it was through their children attending the same school whilst they both lived in the same road.  Service on the PTA and worship at the same church kept them under each others feet. 

The tale went on to Nigel's role on the committee of the Relay for Life at Ascot in support of Cancer Research UK in July 2008 when so many people said how they appreciated the opportunity to talk to so many others with cancer.  They could exchange stories and learn about treatments and, most importantly, come to terms with their experience.  Nigel decided there should be a local support group to offer the same opportunities and he called on John as another cancer survivor and, over a pint or two, Topic of Cancer was born.

We hope there will be another opportunity to appear with Mark again and broadcast an update on the group and hopefully attract even more new members to join us.
